This is a statement to all visitors of Famefad.com that the website is now officially back online after being down for a record breaking total of 50 hours and 45 minutes, it went online last night at 2345hrs UK Time!
If you want further details on the incident feel free to check the Famefad Twitter timeline it makes for spectacular and entertaining reading and after beating this multinational company to a soggy pulp and reducing them to a quivering mass unable to speak in the corner, I feel it’s in bad taste to name and shame this company any further on this website “walking on a mans grave” and other expressions spring to mind, and we’ll leave it that. They have got the message and should consider themselves lucky the media on a global scale didn’t get involved as it was starting to reach that level as they were watching thanks to me and Twitter
If this happens again it will be worse, much worse I will personally go in for the kill and this company will cease trading. That’s just the way I am, anything I care about quite profoundly I will defend and defend quite violently if that is required as I don’t give a damn what people think about me and will do time if necessary, I really don’t care, that sort of person is very hard to beat and can take on massive multinational corporations and is very dangerous indeed!
Unfortunately Famefad.com is not out of the woods yet, it could still be suspended and this time permanently on September 17thaccording to the hosting company if they are not satisfied with the current configuration of the website. which since January 15th has had no problems at all, not one, and we’ve made no changes since that date.. So famefad.coms they say is under review?
The original problem was a scripting issue that was generating tens of thousands of calls in a relatively short space of time causing the server to burn out, nothing to do with the website in real terms, this happened just out the blue and had never happened before, something I wouldn’t personally be able to see and correct and something the hosting company should have informed us by telephone to sort out immediately due to the seriousness of the problem. In all honesty they should have sorted it out as they knew the problem and it was a 2 second file delete job. We didn’t even get an email saying there was an issue, which would have been next to useless anyway they just shut us down with no explanation and didn’t even respond to multiple support tickets in a timely manner!
So this offending script has been permanently deleted by me personally (2 second job), it’s basically a Famefad to Twitter updater that relays posts onto the Twitter social network in real time, quite a tame one really, but for some reason just went haywire on that day possibly as a result of hacking who knows. Blog to Twitter updates will have to be done manually which is slower and a pain but if it means the website stays up then so be it.
In summary Famefad.com is back up but the hosting company are not happy after the recent bad publicity from us on Twitter and are probably wary of keeping us on their books and still licking their wounds AND we are not happy with them either as 50 hours and 45 minutes to get a website back up is well…………………. ridiculous, regardless of the circumstances. The fact the website is now up just illustrates the point that they are wrong and we are right, something the customer always should be!.
We have options, we may go back to blogger as I was quite impressed with them and they are owned by Google and it’s free, or we may try a shortlist of 3 quite expensive but apparently superb paid for hosting companies that provide business level hosting and respond to crisis situations in a matter of 15 minutes or so instead of hours or days, and their phones work?. Or surprisingly we may stay after the dust settles and things return to normal as the website when its up. it stays up pretty much a rock solid 99.99% it’s just when it goes down with these people the support problems arise and they are next to useless. I just want to write celebrity articles post them out to my visitors on my blog and that’s it, as i get enough dramas outside of famefad.com, I don’t need it on this blog as well. As they say you get what you pay for.
As always watch for further news but the dramas are not over yet, I feel there’s more to come but then long suffering followers of this website will know that’s always the way it has been, somethings never change. No rest for the wicked, I must be the baddest boy going!
Normal updates will resume, but as you can appreciate with the fall out after this event, post levels will be lower than normal like walking on egg shells but updates will be happening today onwards, assuming the website stays up, which it now should!
